Empa mission in space
In March 2004, the Rosetta orbiter was launched into space
to analyse and observe the nucleus and environment of the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Among the equipment on board were highly complex metal ceramic sensors from
Empa – integrated into two mass spectrometers. The devices were specially
developed for the mission to measure gas particles in the vicinity of the
comet.
