Cloud computing and one of the world’s most powerful
supercomputers will form the backbone of a national integrated geoscience data
network being developed by CSIRO, Geoscience Australia and AuScope.
The network is supported by world-class visualisation and
spatial information storage software and features ‘virtual laboratories’ that
allow researchers to process big data online, in the cloud and in a fraction of
the time traditionally taken on a desktop.
