Kumtaşından oyulmuş bilinen en eski ‘Ana Tanrıça’ putu – İsa’dan önce 3.ncü yüzyıl gerisine tarihlenen, kadının ana tanrıça olarak idolize edilmesinin en eski anlayışını betimliyen put --   Samarlakota’da bir tapınakta bulundu.

Earliest image of Mother Goddess found

The first-ever ‘Mother Goddess' image carved in sandstone rock — representing the earliest perception of idolising woman as Goddess dating back to 3 Century BC — has been found close to the Sri Chalukya Kumara Bheemeswara Swamy temple at Samarlakota near Kakinada in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

İngiliz tasarımcı Erik de Laurens, endüstriyel anlamda değeri olmayan balık pullarından kendi bulduğu bir teknik ile bir cins plastik üretiyor. Bu malzeme ile yüzme gözlüğü, güneş gözlüğü, tablolar ve bardaklar yapmış. rik şimdi araştırmalarını ilerletmek için fon arıyor.

In continuation of ‘the fish feast’ I created a surprising material made of 100% fish scales ( no added compound ). The fishing industry generates several circumstances where many tons of fish scales are leftover. Using this waste as resources for the production of his fish-scale-plastic, I tried to highlight the potentiality of these industrial flaw.

In order to test the material I have designed 3 pairs of goggles and glasses inspired by swimming goggles and a table with an inlay of a fish. I have also extended the range of colours in the tumbler previously designed.

I am currently looking for funding to push the development of this material further.

Biological Computer to Encrypt and Decipher Images

Scripps Research and Technion Scientists Develop Biological Computer to Encrypt and Decipher Images

(February 11, 2012)  Scientists at The Scripps Research Institute in California and the Technion–Israel Institute of Technology have developed a “biological computer” made entirely from biomolecules that is capable of deciphering images encrypted on DNA chips. Although DNA has been used for encryption in the past, this is the first experimental demonstration of a molecular cryptosystem of images based on DNA computing.

The study was published in a recent online-before-print edition of the journal Angewandte Chemie.

Instead of using traditional computer hardware, a group led by Professor Ehud Keinan of Scripps Research and the Technion created a computing system using bio-molecules. When suitable software was applied to the biological computer, it could decrypt, separately, fluorescent images of The Scripps Research Institute and Technion logos.
