Children showing signs of social withdrawal in risk of internalized distress

The researches of the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, found that children showing signs of social withdrawal are more susceptible to the parental influences than others.  The researches followed up about 300 children across the first three years of primary school according to children’s social skills and problem behaviors. At the same time, mothers’ and fathers’ parenting styles were assessed. The study was funded by the Academy of Finland and Alli Paasikivi foundation.
