Daihatsu Motor Co. has launched a new model of its Tanto
minivehicle, revamping its mainstay vehicle for the first time in six years.
The third-generation Tanto has a spacious interior and is
equipped with a collision avoidance system that detects obstacles and
automatically stops the vehicle.
Its fuel economy is about 10 percent better than that of its
predecessor. The 660cc vehicle can travel up to 28 kilometers per liter of
gasoline, one kilometer shy of the 29 posted by Suzuki Motor Corp.’s Spacia,
the fuel-efficiency leader in the so-called super-height class of minivehicles
standing 1.7 meters or taller. The Tanto debuted in 2003 as the first
super-height minivehicle.
