New MOCA Cleveland opens to the public today from 1 to 6 p.m.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Today's the day. If you’ve been wondering about the big shiny black object at Uptown in University Circle, it’s the brand new permanent home of the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, and it opens to the public today for free from 1 to 6 p.m.

Timed tickets are recommended. Call 216-421-8671.

Founded 44 years ago just a half block away in a former dry-cleaning storefront, MOCA has returned to its roots in style.

Its new, $27.2 million building, designed by Farshid Moussavi of London with Westlake Reed Leskosky of Cleveland, is getting extensive attention from the media for its angular facades and mysterious presence.
