Researchers create 3-D images of tsunami debris

Hoping to convey the fear and danger of tsunami to future generations, researchers from the University of Tokyo and Tohoku University are utilizing cutting-edge technologies to create three-dimensional images of debris from the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

The research groups are attempting to immortalize the “structural debris from the 2011 disaster,” such as municipal government facilities and school buildings that were damaged by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, by rendering 3-D images.
