Regaining proper hearing at last

Around 17 million people in Germany suffer from impaired hearing. For many of them, their hearing is so damaged that a standard hearing aid is no longer enough. A new device will improve patients’ hearing and can be implanted during outpatient surgery.

“Sorry? I didn’t catch that. Can you speak up please?” People who are hard of hearing can quickly drift into social isolation. Worse, they can also get into dangerous situations, for example when driving or crossing the road. Hearing aids are then a must for the almost one in every two people over the age of 65 in Europe whose hearing is poor.
